Anogenital Distance in Newborns with Hypospadias

چکیده
Hypospadias is a very common congenital anomaly in which the urethra opens onto ventral aspect of penis rather than at tip. It has an incidence less 1% live male births. In humans, anogenital distance (AGD) sexually dimorphic measure genital development. this study, we intended to examine association between AGD and hypospadias using homogenous group patients. The same investigator examined all newborns our hospital, anthropometric measurements were recorded. All made millimeters (mm) with sliding digital caliper (graduated millimeters) used for measuring base scrotum center anus; defined as AGD. During period Jan 2015 December 2019 (both inclusive), there 28,426 (14,615 males 13,811 females) full-term births hospital. gestational age ranged from 37 42 weeks. mean was 21.06±5.57 (range 12.11 33.14) mm without hypospadias, 9.92±1.90 8.0 – 13.9) proximal 17.03±1.95 14.0 19.9) distal hypospadias. associated reduced distance. further decreases severity

Anogenital Distance in Turkish Newborns
OBJECTIVE Anogenital distances are considered to be a sensitive indicator of external genitalia exposure to factors such as anti-androgens, and/or endocrine distruptors during the prenatal period. Exposure to such factors can lead to changes in the anogenital measurements (AGM) of newborn infants. These measurements can be used to predict masculinization of the external genitalia in healthy new...

We have measured anogenital distance (AGD) in 300 newborns delivered in Zubeyde Hanim Maternity Hospital in 2007. As in the study by Ozkan et al (1), we also used a sliding caliper for the measurements; however, in the manuscript by Ozkan et al (1), it was mentioned as tape, which needs correction. The results of both Dr Ozkan’s study and ours seem similar. We could not give the results of meas...
متن کاملFirst trimester phthalate exposure and anogenital distance in newborns.
STUDY QUESTION Is first trimester phthalate exposure associated with anogenital distance (AGD), a biomarker of prenatal androgen exposure, in newborns? SUMMARY ANSWER Concentrations of diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) metabolites in first trimester maternal urine samples are inversely associated with AGD in male, but not female, newborns. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY AGD is a sexually dimorphic measu...

We would like to thank Oguz Kutlu A for her close interest in our paper entitled “Anogenital Distance in Turkish Newborns”. In our study (1), we used caliper for the measurements as Oguz Kutlu A did in her study (2). We compared our anogenital measurements to those obtained in previous studies in the literature (including Oguz Kutlu’s study) according to the measurement method used, as shown in...
متن کاملAnogenital Distance and Penile Length in Infants with Hypospadias or Cryptorchidism: Comparison with Normative Data
BACKGROUND Anogenital distance (AGD) in animals is a sensitive biomarker of fetal endocrine disruption and the associated testicular dysgenesis syndrome (TDS). However, AGD in human infants with cryptorchidism and hypospadias, which are potential manifestations of TDS during childhood, is not clearly described. OBJECTIVE Our aim was to compare AGD in boys with cryptorchidism or hypospadias ag...
